Members of the Westminster College Chorale and the Community Chorale have combined to present the "Holocaust Cantata" Sunday, April 8, at 3 p.m. at the Wallace Memorial Chapel.
"The cantata contains no plot, rather each song and reading represents a different person and a different time in the Holocaust experience," said Donald McCullough, composer of the cantata.
All of the songs in the "Holocaust Cantata," originally in Polish, were found in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum archives, and were written by prisoners while incarcerated in Nazi concentration camps. The readings are based on interview transcripts, historical data, and the story of Irena Augustynska Kafka.
The choir consists of 22 Westminster College students and 13 community members, and is under the direction of Donald J. Rasely, a music faculty member at Westminster College.
