Westminster College to Host District History Day Competition

Westminster College will host more than 200 area school students at the district History Day competition Tuesday, March 27, in Orr Lobby and the first floor of Patterson Hall. The competition begins at 9 a.m. and continues through the day until the 2 p.m. awards ceremony in Orr Auditorium.

The theme for this years competition is "Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas." Entries must answer questions of time, place, cause and effect, change over time, and impact and significance of their topic.

Junior division schools include Grove City Middle School, Mohawk Elementary School, St. Mary's of Assumption School, St. Michael's School, and West Middlesex Junior High School.

Senior division schools include Butler Intermediary High School, Greenville Senior High School, Grove City Area High School, Hickory Senior High School, Hopewell Senior High School, New Wilmington Area High School, Seneca Valley Senior High School, Shenango Senior High School, and West Middlesex High School.

The event is free and open to the public. Members of students' families, friends, and teachers are encouraged to attend the performances, documentaries, and observe the exhibits.

The winners of first and second places in each category will go on to participate in the state contest May 9-10 at Pennsylvania State University.
