Although Westminster College’s traditional Family Day event had to be sidelined due to COVID-19 restrictions, that didn’t stop the College’s Office of Parent Engagement from uniting students and their families this fall.

Instead of the traditional one-day event, Family Days 2020 was developed to offer virtual family-friendly events over several days this fall. Some events were part of the College’s weeklong virtual Homecoming celebration, but on Saturday, Oct. 10, two additional events designed to keep family members connected to their students and Westminster College will be held.

“Every fall we invite students’ families to campus for a fun-filled Family Day. This year, because of health and safety concerns related to COVID, an in-person event isn’t possible, but this isn’t stopping us from creating an opportunity for students to have fun with their families,” said Connie McGinnis, director of parent engagement at Westminster College. “We want to give parents the chance to learn a little bit about their Titan’s home away from home and why it is so special.”

Parents can enjoy a virtual “Coffee with the President” from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday via Zoom. The informal coffee chat will feature Westminster College President Dr. Kathy Brittain Richardson, who will update parents on the latest campus happenings. A question-and-answer session will follow. Interested parents can register for the event by emailing McGinnis at mcginncl@westminster.edu no later than Monday, Oct. 5. A Zoom meeting link will be emailed to all registrants.

A virtual Titan scavenger hunt for students and their families will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday. Families can compete and win prizes. To register for the event and to receive the official scavenger hunt list, send parent and student email addresses to McGinnis at mcginncl@westminster.edu no later than Monday, Oct. 5.
