Board member, alumna meets with Little Library committee

Westminster's Little Library executive committee met with Barbara Braden Guffey '70, a member of the College's Board of Trustees, on Wednesday, April 24. They expressed their appreciation for her on-going financial support for their student organization. Little Library seeks to build diverse children's home libraries. Several times each year, the group donates new children's books to Farrell Elementary's first graders. These books are sent home with a family newsletter, helping parents consider various avenues for on-going explorations. Guffey shared stories of how she gave her first graders books of their own when she taught in Pittsburgh schools. She highlighted the importance of getting books into young children's hands, for them to enjoy and explore on their own and especially with family members.  Pictured with Guffey, seated at right, are president Devanne Doyle, past president Rachel Popelka, vice president Taylor Young, treasurer Robert Carpenter, adviser Dr. Charlene Klassen Endrizzi and School of Education Chair Dr. Amy Camardese.
