Student Employment

The purpose of the Student Employment Program is to provide employment to those students with financial need thereby enabling them to meet a portion of their educational expenses and to assist the Westminster community by providing part-time employees to assist in the daily operation of the College. The program also serves to connect the educational experience with the world of work and affords students the opportunity to develop competencies and skills that employers seek from college graduates, such as a strong work ethic and computer, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills, to name a few.

Duties:
• Assists with maintenance, upkeep, and operation of classroom and event technologies owned by Library and Information Services • Provides troubleshooting as needed to keep all classroom and event technologies operational • Inspects classrooms every other week to ensure proper operation and functionality • Maintains and updates inventory of all circulating and permanently installed equipment • Analyzes and processes equipment reservations from faculty, staff, and students • Participates in equipment setup and tear down upon request • Cross-trains with Desktop Technology Services to ensure proficiency in campus computing • Any other tasks as directed by the Classroom and Event Technology Specialist

Qualifications/Skills:
Enthusiastic and willing to learn • Adaptable and willing to keep up with changing technologies • Willing to conform and innovate in various situations where required • Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work well with a team of diverse students and staff • Ability to adhere to, understand, and follow established departmental and college policies • Works well under pressure and time constraints, including occasional “on-call” shifts that may be necessary on evenings and weekends • Solid organization & time management skills • Maintains excellent communication, writing and language skills

Special Requirements:
Preference is given to work study eligible students but we can hire students that are not work study eligible.
