Volleyball: Titans Drop Hard Fought Match to Thiel, 3-0, on Senior Night

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team dropped, 0-3 (21-25, 19-25, 21-25), to the visiting Thiel Tomcats Thursday on Senior Night inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. The Titans fell to 21-9 overall and 11-6 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while the Tomcats improved to 20-7 overall and 13-3 in the conference.

Set one was tied 18-18, however Thiel won after a 7-3 run. In the second set, Westminster was up 6-1, however the Tomcats rallied seven points to go up 8-6 and would stay ahead for the rest of the set. Down 10-20 in the third set, Westminster kept fighting and orchestrated a 10-3 run to cut Thiel's lead to 23-20 before losing 25-21.

Westminster senior Tara Incerpi (Carrollton, OH / Minerva), who was recognized before the match, earned a game-high 21 digs. Junior Claire Ferrando (North Jackson, OH / Western Reserve) added 10 digs, while junior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) had nine. Palkovic also led the Titan offense with six kills, followed by sophomore Kassie Freyermuth (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) who had five. Junior Lexi Starheim (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard) tied a game-high three blocks.

The Titans will host Thomas More at 5 p.m. on Saturday in their final regular season match.
