Volleyball: Titans Win Two in Day 1 of Fredonia Tournament

FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Westminster College ended day one of the Fredonia Tournament as the only team to finish 2-0. The Titans shutout Rochester Institute of Technology, 3-0 (25-8, 25-18, 25-18), in their first game and blanked D'Youville, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-14), in their second game.

The other schools participating in this two-day event are Fredonia State, Buffalo State, Nazareth, Case Western Reserve, and Pitt-Bradford.

In game one, junior Lexi Starheim (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard), junior Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH / Southeast), and freshman Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) led the offense with five kills each. Starheim and Romocean added two blocks apiece. Romocean also had a team-high three aces. Junior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) dished-out a team-high 24 assists.

In game two, freshman Tiffany Jackson (Las Vegas, NV / Las Vegas) had a team-high 18 assists. Romocean and sophomore Kassie Freyermuth (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) had eight and seven kills, respectively. Romocean added two aces and a solo block, while Freyermuth also earned a block.

Westminster will play Fredonia tomorrow at 12 p.m. to finish out the tournament.
