During New Student Orientation, Westminster College will be taking every precaution to ensure the safety and well-being of all incoming students. The Orientation model will include both in-person and virtual sessions to best meet the needs of our students and embody the essence of community while also adhering to the health and safety guidelines outlined by the College. At each in-person event, all participants will be asked to be masked for the duration of the Orientation program while maintaining required social distancing practices.
Residential Students Only
New students are invited to grab lunch in the McKelvey Campus Center. Additional seating will be available outside on the Quad.
New Wilmington Community Tours
Orientation Leaders will lead groups of students every hour through this optional New Wilmington community tour. Departure location will be the front of the McKelvey Campus Center. (Group capacity per hour: 10)
Outdoor games will be available on the Quad for students to enjoy at their leisure.
Orientation Leaders will be around to sit and chat with during dinner!
Visit campus offices and locations to pick up your orientation schedule, mailroom key, parking pass and Titan card, and complete forms.
Opening Convocation I
The traditional Opening Convocation is a time of academic celebration that signals the start of the new academic year. There will be two ceremonies, and they will be livestreamed for families. (Students Only)
Orientation Check-In I
You spend much of orientation with your WST 101 team and leaders. Your leaders will identify your WST 101 meeting space. Each time you see New Student Meeting, this is where you should head. Half of the orientation groups will head to their check-in location, while the other half attends Convocation.
10:45 – 12:00 p.m.
You will eat lunch with your WST 101 orientation group at your assigned dining location.
Westminster 101 Workshops
This is your very first Westminster class and you should come prepared to be a student. You will meet your WST101 instructor, Peer Success Coach, and classmates. You will also get prepared for your first week of classes. No need to bring supplies to this class - we’ve got you covered!
Residential students, you will return to your rooms to complete this health and safety course. Commuters can complete this course at home or stay on campus and complete the course at the designated locations.
Residence Hall Floor Meetings
Commuter Student Association (CSA) Meeting
Residential students, you will eat dinner with your family pod at your floor meetings. Commuter students who stay for the Commuter Student Meeting will be provided dinner at the meeting in Berlin Lounge.
Commuters, please bring your laptops with you on Friday and Saturday!
Social Activities Sponsored by SPORES
Members of the Society for the Protection of Outdoor Resources and Environmental Sustainability, a student-led campus organization, will facilitate optional outdoor activities. The meet up location is the Quad tent.
