Sports Management

At Westminster College, the vision of the Sports Management program is exact and uncompromised. We will aspire to be the nation’s premier sports management program at a liberal arts institution, both academically and professionally; a model of excellence for others to emulate, while enhancing the lives of students and preparing them for life beyond graduation. Our mission is to prepare individuals to hone their knowledge in the core areas of communication (including media and public relations), facility and events, finance, law, management and marketing (including sponsorship, licensing and ticketing) through a degree in Sports Management. Housed in the School of Business, this interdisciplinary degree enables students to develop their career readiness skills, presentation literacy, and public speaking across multiple majors while developing the abilities that employers seek.

Advantages of a Sports Management degree from Westminster College include: the opportunity to earn a double major (ex. business administration and sports management or marketing and sports management) and still graduate in four years, a business emphasis curriculum sought by employers as noted in the Sports Business Journal, proximity to metropolitan cities of Pittsburgh and Cleveland, trips to state, regional and national conferences for professional networking, experiential learning assignments to advance industry-specific skills, emphasis on revenue generation through projects and inquiry, and vibrant campus opportunities with the athletic department, intramurals, school newspaper, school radio and school television, that afford professional growth and leadership enhancement.
