Requirements for the Minor

Materials Science and Supporting Courses:

MSE 231 Science and Engineering Materials

One of the following pairs:

CHE 117 Principles of Chemistry
CHE 180 Inorganic Chemistry


PHY 151 Principles of Physics I
PHY 152 Principles of Physics II

Plus, 12 additional semester hours from courses designated MSE.

No grade lower than a C- may be used to satisfy any course required for the materials science minor. All students except engineering physics majors are eligible to declare this


What can you do with a Materials Science degree?

Imagine yourself in a career with an organization that produce metals, ceramics, plastics, and rubber. Materials scientists also work in the coatings, paint, biomedical, electronics, and alternative fuel industries.
