Westminster's Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) campus representative Sarah M. Smith '18 organized a panel of senior accounting majors to discuss accounting career paths; the value of internships; graduating with 150 credits in four years and preparing for the CPA exam. The panel discussion was held on March 13, and provided an opportunity for students to learn more about their field. Panelists included seniors Joan J. Richardson ’18, Nataleigh R. Kerr ’18, Megan E. Peluso ’18 and Nickolas A. Dickson ’18. Associate Advisor at JFS Wealth Advisors and 2016 graduate Sean Gibbon, CPA, was a special guest panelist, and stressed the importance of networking, perseverance, communication and passing the CPA exam.

Westminster’s chapter of ENACTUS is doing their part in spreading holiday cheer by hosting a holiday event with The Confluence coffee shop in New Castle, PA. On Friday, Dec. 8, “Westminster Wonderland” will take place to drive traffic to small businesses in New Castle and give students some reprieve from a long semester.

However, senior business and accounting major Nataleigh Kerr has utilized the resources at Westminster College to make her transition in May one that will be filled with confidence in a successful future.

If you were to ask alumna Jennifer Gandolfi how she landed her current job before graduating in the Spring of 2017, she would attribute her success to what she calls the “Westminster network.” In October, Jennifer begins her journey as a staff auditor for Crowe Horwath LLP, an accounting firm that provides a range of services to financial institution and other clients in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Thanks to the support of a committed professor and a helping hand from a recent alum, Jennifer is a direct outcome of the extensive network she believes makes Westminster unique.

AJ Bove, sophomore accounting major at Westminster College, was named winner of the 2017 David W. Edward Entrepreneurship Scholarship competition. The competition conducted by Westminster’s School of Business with funding from the Edward Trust in Youngstown, Ohio, required students to prepare and present a business plan depicting the creation of a new or improved business, product, service, or combination of the three.
