Students in the Westminster College School of Business are hosting the first annual "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes," Saturday, April 28, 2018. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a one mile walk through campus to support the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County. The event is open to all, and registration is $5. Registration will take place at 8:30 a.m. The walk to follow at 9 a.m. starting at the Old Main Senior Terrace.
"The purpose of this walk is to generate awareness for domestic violence and sexual assault," explains junior business administration major Emily Irvine. "Every 98 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted and 4 out of 5 female students are victims of sexual assault. The numbers are growing and no one should have to go through this, and if they do they should know they are not alone."
Proceeds will benefit the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, an organization committed to providing leadership initiatives to help ending physical, sexual and emotional violence.
For more information about this cause and to register in advance for the walk, please visit crisisshelter.org. Contact Emily Irvine at email@example.com for additional details.
