Senior Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) became just the ninth Titan in school history to achieve 1,000 career kills on September 9 during the Westminster College volleyball team's tri-match.
Yoho totaled 16 kills on Saturday, surpassing Janie Cebula (1993-96) for eighth-best with 1,002 career kills in Titan history. Yoho is the first Titan to reach the 1,000-kill milestone since Sam Botzum (2006-09).
On Saturday, Westminster won, 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 25-19), over Chatham University (5-1, 1-0 PAC) in its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener. Titan sophomore Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) led the Titan offense with 13 kills, followed by Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) with 12 and Yoho with 11. DeGeorge also had a team-high two service aces. Additionally, Yoho tied a career-high with a match-high eight blocks. First-year Hannah Santom (Grove City, PA / Grove City) led the Titans with a career-high 27 assists. Dickson also tied a match-high with 17 digs, followed by DeGeorge (16) and junior Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) (13).
In their second match, the Titans swept Saint Vincent College, 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-19), guided by a season-best hitting percentage of .360. The Bearcats fell to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the PAC. Titan junior Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) earned a match-best 15 kills, followed by DeGeorge (9) and Dickson (7). Junior Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) dished out a match-best 20 assists and tied with DeGeorge for a match-high 10 digs. Moore added nine digs. DeGeorge and Santom registered a match-best two aces, while Yoho again had a match-high seven blocks. Saxton had five blocks.
Westminster (6-1, 2-0 PAC) will next play at La Roche College on Wednesday, September 13 at 7 p.m.
