Head Coach Tammy Swearingen won the 500th match

Head Coach Tammy Swearingen won the 500th match of her career as the Westminster College volleyball team split its two matches at the Saint Vincent College tri-match on Thursday.

Swearingen, who is in her 23rd year at the helm of the Titans, becomes the 12th active head volleyball coach in NCAA Division III with at least 500 wins. She is also the all-time winningest coach in one sport in Titan history.

Westminster shutout Chatham University, 3-0 (25-11,25-16,25-16), in match one and lost, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-12) to Saint Vincent in the second match.

Against Chatham, first-year Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) led the Titan offense with a match-high 12 kills. The total also tied a career-high for Saxton. Westminster junior Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) added five kills. First-year Shanna Daniels (Edinburg, PA / Billy C. Ryan, TX) notched a career-high and a match-high 27 assists. First-year Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) topped Westminster's defense with a match-high 15 digs, while senior Erin Kennedy (Oakmont, PA / Riverview) registered nine. Junior Megan Little (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock) and Daniels tallied seven digs apiece. Junior Katie Pricener (Wilmerding, PA / Serra Catholic) contributed with a match-high three blocks. Slater also had a match-high three service aces.

In match two, Saxton and senior Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) led the Titan offense with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Daniels tallied a match-high 25 assists.  Kennedy had a team-high 10 digs, while Prybyl and Moore added eight each. Pricener once again led Westminster with three blocks.

Westminster will next compete in the Grove City College tri-match on Saturday. The Titans will play Grove City at 11 a.m. and Washington & Jefferson College at 1 p.m.
