Westminster College Director of Library Services Elected as Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of Library Association Board

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Erin Smith, director of library services at Westminster College's McGill Library, was elected vice-chair/chair-elect of the College Libraries Section (CLS) of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL).

As vice-chair/chair-elect, Smith is responsible for appointing chairs and members to the various CLS committees and discussion groups. After a year of service as vice-chair/chair-elect, she will move into a one-year term as chair of CLS.

Smith, who has been with Westminster since 2002, earned undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Tennessee.

ACRL is a division of American Library Association (ALA). The CLS was established in 1940 for the purpose of advancing college librarianship. Today it represents almost 3,000 librarians at baccalaureate degree-granting institutions.

Westminster's McGill Library is open to the public and houses material on the fine arts, humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences and technology. It also features a community section with a children's library.
