Westminster College Chamber Singers and Concert Choir Plan Winter Tour

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College's Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will sing at several Presbyterian churches in Florida and South Carolina on their annual tour Jan. 4-9.

Under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, associate professor and director of choral activities, the group of 36 students will begin the "Music of Living" tour at Maximo Presbyterian Church (, St. Petersburg, Fla., with an evening performance Jan. 4.

Concerts are also scheduled for Church of the Palms (, Sarasota, Fla., Sunday morning and again in the afternoon, Jan. 6; St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (, Dunedin, Fla., Jan. 7; First Presbyterian Church (, Lakeland, Fla., Jan. 8; and Shandon Presbyterian Church (, Columbia, S.C., Jan. 9.

Senior Daniel Goffus is the accompanist for the Chamber Singers and junior Jessica Kimbell accompanies the Concert Choir.

Selections on the program include "Et misericordia" by John Rutter, featuring soloist Alexandra Patterson; Joseph M. Martin's arrangement of "A Stephen Foster Tribute" with soloist Gregory McClelland; and Moses Hogan's arrangement of "This Little Light of Mine" with soloists Jennifer Peet and McClelland. The program also includes Forrest's arrangement of colonial folksongs "The Nightingale" and "The Girl I Left Behind Me" featuring Kimbell playing violin, and Goffus and Anthony Pezzelle playing piano.

A variety of classical, traditional, and contemporary works complete the program.

In addition to Lind, the Rev. James Mohr, Westminster chaplain, will travel with the group and offer an introduction at each concert. Mohr assisted in putting together the concert itinerary and arranged for housing and food for the students.

Two alumni will also be traveling with the group as chaperones. Kalyn Stevwing `12 earned a degree in Christian education and a minor in music. Jayne Piskorik `11 earned a degree in elementary education and a minor in music.
