Celebrity Series Amy Grant Concert is a Sellout

Posted on Thursday, September 30, 2010

The Westminster College Celebrity Series will welcome award-winning singer/songwriter Amy Grant for a sold-out performance Saturday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The show is sponsored by First National Bank.

Grant, an artist with a No. 1 hit in each of the past three decades, has earned six Grammys, numerous Dove Awards, a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and a variety of other accolades during her career. She is described as "an American music icon who has erased the lines between genres and earned the respect of fans and peers."

The youngest of four daughters, Grant was born in Augusta, Ga., and raised in Nashville. She began her career as a teen singing contemporary Christian music and moved to mainstream pop, opening the door for every Christian artist who wanted to share their faith from a broader platform.

Her most recent album, Somewhere Down the Road, is a musical journey filled with messages of resiliency, promise, and hope. It features old songs, new songs, unreleased songs, and a duet with her 17-year-old daughter Sarah.

In addition to her musical talents, Grant wrote the soul-baring book Mosaic: Pieces of My Life So Far and contributed one of her own paintings for the cover art on her latest album.
