Student and Professor Attend New Leadership Pennsylvania Institute

Posted on Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Katelyn Moga, a Westminster College sophomore political science major, and Dr. Edward Cohen, Westminster College associate professor and chair of the Department of Political Science and Sociology, attended the New Leadership Pennsylvania Institute June 7-12 at Chatham University in Pittsburgh.

Moga is a daughter of Timothy and Pamela Moga of Ashtabula, Ohio, and a graduate of Edgewood High School.

The Institute is designed to educate and empower young women leaders in politics and policymaking through workshops on the political process, policy issues, and leadership strategies. A two-day trip to the state capital in Harrisburg provided the opportunity to meet with members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and other women in Pennsylvania politics.

Moga said, "I established a great network of colleagues and learned a lot about state government, which has sparked my interest in it. I am now looking forward to using the skills and information I obtained through the experience toward a possible career in government."
