WC Titan Bands: Jazz, Marching, Orchestra, Symphonic, Wind


The Jazz Ensemble, a full big band (five saxes, four trombones, five trumpets and rhythm section composed of piano, guitar, bass, drums) that performs the finest in classic swing, be-bop, fusion and modern styles of jazz.  The ensemble performs three major concerts per year, plus appearances at selected College visitations, as a guest performer for high school jazz festivals.  The group has also opened for the College's Celebrity Series and for professional artists including Maynard Ferguson and Michael Lee.  Invitation to this ensemble is through group auditions held in the first week of classes in the fall semester.  Additional spring auditions may be held if openings occur.   &

The 100-member Titan Marching Band performs both corps and traditional style halftime shows at all home and some away football games.  Additionally, the Marching Band performs as a featured band for selected high school band festivals or competitions.  Guardline and Danceline are integral components of the Titan Marching Band.  Students with interest and experience may sign up for Guardline.  Students should have experience in twirling flag; training sessions are held for the purpose of development of those with serious interest.  Enrollment is based upon permission of the director of the marching band.  Titanettes, the danceline part of the Marching Band, performs at Titan football and basketball events.  Team tryouts are required.  &
The 80-member Symphonic Band performs a diverse and challenging repertoire in two concerts each year.  This ensemble and the Titan Marching Band are essentially the same group; Symphonic Band performs after the end of football season for the remainder of the year.  Membership is open to all interested persons with instrumental experience. &
 
The Wind Ensemble is comprised of the minimum number of musicians necessary to perform full band works.  This ensemble performs the finest in wind literature, both established classics and contemporary works.  In the past two years, this group has been a featured performer at the Pennsylvania State Convention and has received an invitation, through audition, for a performance tour of .  Enrollment is through auditions held in the fall semester.  &
