Room Placement for New and Transfer Students

A strength of the Westminster College experience is the close-knit community that exists on campus.  Westminster College is a residential college which means that students are required to live on campus for four years.

New and transfer students are assigned to one of several single-sex residence halls on campus.  New female students are usually assigned to Shaw or Galbreath and transfer women are usually placed in Browne, Galbreath and Hillside halls.  Men are assigned to either Russell or Eichenauer halls.  Sometimes a large incoming class requires that students are housed in other halls on campus.  Residence hall building assignments are made according to a student’s initial deposit date.

Westminster residence hall rooms are designed for two persons.  However, there are some triple and quad rooms.  Singles are offered by random lottery according to class rank.  However, we are usually able to offer a small number of singles to incoming students for an additional charge.

New students who have submitted the matriculation deposit will receive a New Student Information booklet in May.  Transfer students will receive a housing mailing in May or within two weeks of their deposit date (whichever comes later).  Included in these packets are two important forms which should be completed and returned by the stated due date.  These forms include a Residential Agreement and a Roommate Preference Form. All students, commuting or residential, should complete and return both forms.  We'll use the information provided to cofirm your commuter status or to determine your room and roommate placement.  Room placement letters are generally mailed to incoming students by July 20.
