H1N1 Update

Friday, October 16, 2009

To the Campus Community:

Since I last wrote to you, we have not had another case of influenza - that is, until yesterday. We have had 4 or 5 students go home with influenza- like illness during the last two weeks, but none of them tested positive for the flu. Yesterday we did have a student who tested positive for the flu. That student has gone home to recover.

Because all of our students who tested positive for the flu also tested positive for the H1N1 virus, we are no longer testing for H1N1, unless the student requests it.

I continue to attend weekly meetings with the Department of Health on the H1N1 vaccine. The latest news we have is that we should be receiving the vaccine the end of October. I have begun to work on arranging a clinic for our students and will keep you posted when I get more information.

Have a safe and healthy Fall Break!
