Health Education

P.E.E.R.S., a peer education group, works closely with the SHC staff and Family Health Council of New Castle to offer a wide range of health-related programs and workshops to the campus population and the community. Peer education programs currently being offered include AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Eating Disorders, Self-Esteem, Healthy Relationships, and Alcohol Awareness. If you are interested in becoming a P.E.E.R.S. educator or in the programs offered, contact the SHC.

The Health Education Room at the Student Health Center offers pamphlets on AIDS, STD's, alcohol, eating disorders, drug abuse, smoking, date rape, and many other topics. Students may borrow video tapes and books on health-related subjects.

Also located in the Health Education Room is the Self-Help Cold Center. The Center provides over-the-counter analgesics and decongestants, throat lozenges, cough drops, and paper thermometers with a booklet explaining how and when to use them. Students may use the Health Education Room anytime the Health Center is open.
