Residence Directors are full-time staff, graduate assistants and upperclass students supervising the Residence Life program in the residence halls.  They work with students, Resident Assistants (RAs), House Councils, and the Office of Student Affairs to provide an environment where each student can reach his or her fullest potential.

Resident Assistants are upperclass students who live within each residence hall community.  They are available to assist with any questions or problems students may have.  In addition, they act in a counseling and an informative capacity and handle assigned administrative responsibilities.  Their goal is to interact with residents, helping to build and maintain a sense of community within the residence halls.  They also strive toward bridging the classroom experience with residential living through educational and social programming, and to nurture a sense of mutual respect and responsibility in the residence halls.

Desk Staff is generally upperclass students who work at the front desks of the residence halls.  Their general responsibilities include greeting residence hall visitors, upholding residential visitation and escort policies, and overseeing the use and maintenance of residence hall equipment.

RESIDENCE HALL GOVERNMENT
Residence hall governments promote student leadership and involvement within the residence halls.  Each residence hall is governed by a House Council that consists of elected representatives from each residence hall community, as well as a general slate of officers.  In cooperation with the Residence Life staff, House Councils coordinate hall activities programming, authorize expenditures for the purchase of hall recreational equipment, and govern residence hall policies.  House Councils meet every two weeks.

The Residence Hall Advisory Board (RHAB) is composed of presidents for each House Council and is advised by a representative from the Office of Student Affairs.  RHAB convenes on the last Tuesday of each month.  Its chief purpose is to provide a forum of support for hall presidents, serve in an advising capacity regarding residential procedure and policy, and allocate funding for hall improvements.

All resident students are welcome and encouraged to get involved in House Councils and RHAB.  Students should see their Residence Directors for more information.
