Westminster College considers community service a valuable part of the curriculum for all students, whether they take part in an organized volunteer effort, or one that is individually designed. This allows our students to give back to society in a meaningful way and encourages a lifetime of volunteerism.

Students are encouraged to use their talents to enhance the value of their service, and to make sure that they grow in the process.

Each first year student's plan for service is approved by his/her Inquiry professor. Service is confirmed and documented by an on-site supervisor.

Transfer and LLP students are advised to contact the Career Center regarding procedures for meeting their Community Service requirements.

The Career Center assists students in finding service opportunities in the following ways:

  • Announcing service opportunities on this web page as well as via e-mail, memo, and the Westminster Weekly
  • Bringing to campus panels and various classroom speakers to highlight the need for volunteers
  • Providing reference materials in the Career Center Library
Students are encouraged to contact Janet Waugaman at the Career Center at 724/946-6338 or waugamjb@westminster.edu for assistance.
