We acquired this Morris Minor 1000 in 2001, and had it restored over two years, 2003-2005. The color is the original one, Smoke Grey. "Mehitabel" does have a few upgrades: front disc brakes from an MG Midget, radial tires (but same size as original, very narrow), and three angle valve seat inserts. Perhaps the valve seat improvement allows the 948 cc engine to achieve its full potential of 37 h.p.! Mehitabel was actually built in May, 1959.
The post-WW II Morris Minor (known as the Moggie) was perhaps the quintessential British economy car of its era, built in one form or another from 1948 until 1971.
