This has changed over the years. My teaching philosophy has gone from teach an you were taught (I was mostly lectured to) to striveing for active learning centered on the student.
I'm still developing even as I write.
Here is the direction I moving in the evoloution of my teaching...
-Keep students active in learning exercises and avoid lecturing unless necessary.
-Use probem-based learning to simulate "real-world" issues.
-Try to foster students to develop as learners so this skill can be applied to all of life's experiences.
-Help to create critical and analytical thinkers.
-Use step-by-step approaches to teaching course content when possible.
This is always developing as my teaching evolves. |
