Duties:
This position works with the Technical Operations manager, Gary Swanson, to oversee 40+ radio and TV computers, peripherals and specialized applications. This position is responsible for ensuring that all devices of this nature run efficiently and with as little inconvenience to faculty and students as possible. The position requires strong computing and network skills, troubleshooting, maintenance, and communication talents, and exercises substantial judgment and initiative. This position provides considerable occasions to develop interpersonal abilities, leadership, management, planning, and problem solving skills, as well as sharpen professionalism and self-confidence, and offers significant opportunities to network and market your abilities. For more information, and to apply, please contact Gary Swanson at gswanson@westminster.edu The following are primary duties and responsibilities of this position: • Diagnose and fix all system problems (computers, printers, phones, and fax machines,) daily, as they arise. • Coordinate all computing updates and repairs. • Test ethernet cables/ports. • Configure Windows Machines. • Monitor and configure Virtual Machines. • Map network drives. • Fix and configure printing problems. • Track all software licenses, serial numbers, and deployment of software upgrades. • Maintain accurate inventory of all departmental computing systems. • Monitor broadcasting streams and software to make sure they are running smoothly. • Monitor and clean network drives. • Prepare reports for continuing process improvement purposes, indicating trouble report activities, problem remediation, and corrective actions taken. • Perform research for additional software or hardware that can improve the department. • Create technical and helpful “user-friendly” documents for all departmental computing. • Exercise timely, effective communications through email, mobile phone, and provided applications as necessary. • Attend and contribute to monthly staff meeting and weekly status meetings with Technical Operations Manager.

Qualifications/Skills:
• Computer Science/Computer Information Systems Major preferred. • Proficient knowledge of computing. • Knowledge for navigating and fixing problems on Windows and Mac machines. • Exposure to or willingness to learn how to maintain and configure virtual machines. • Solid internet research skills. • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, technical/problem solving and reasoning skills. • Broadcasting background is not required.

Special Requirements:
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with little supervision • Has a desire to succeed and make the department better • Seek out information and learn independently • Can lift at least 20-30 pounds (monitors, computers, servers), and climb stairs/ladders. • Friendly and willing to help others • Excellent record keeping, tracking, and follow-up skills.
