E-Recycling DrivesHeld biannually through A Greenspan, a pledged E-Steward and electronic recycling company from Pittsburgh, over 70,000 lbs. of outdated technology has been recycled at Westminster through these drives.
Recycling through an E-Steward ensures that materials are disposed of properly, and not buried in landfills or exported to countries where workers are paid low wages and the infrastructure and legal framework is too weak to protect the environment, workers and communities.
Since 2012, there is no cost to consumers for recycling of covered items, though there may be a small cost for businesses to ensure that items are safely disposed of, which goes entirely to the recycler. AV and Westminster serve to promote and provide both labor and location, but make no money off of the drives. (Note: As of January 2013, it is illegal in Pennsylvania to trash these electronic items.)

Responsible Office HabitsWe practice power consumption tracking, battery refresh, safe lamp and media disposal, paper shredding, reuse of shipping materials, and ink cartridge, newspaper, can, bottle, and plastic recycling, for a list of places that recycle these and other items click here.
Repurposing EquipmentWe repurpose equipment for area schools annually through the “Gently Used” equipment donation program. Please see our Technology Donation and Recycling Policy for more details.
