Ott Accepts Position with Multinational Partnership

After an extensive interview process, Alex Ott, senior Accounting major and AV Purchasing Manager for Westminster College Audio Visual Services, has accepted a position as Staff Auditor at EY (formerly known as Ernst and Young.) She will be working with a team to audit clients various industries, including healthcare, construction, and energy.

"EY provided me with the greatest opportunity among all of my job offers," said Ott. "I'm very excited."

EY is a multinational partnership that dates back to 1849. It is one of the "Big Four" accounting firms and working at the firm is considered to be very prestigious among accounting professionals. The Pittsburgh EY branch is the 3rd largest in the city and boasts more than 700 offices in more than 150 countries.

"Alex Ott has successfully navigated her way through a remarkably busy schedule during her time at Westminster, taking advantage of opportunities as they have presented themselves, and making the most of them," said Director of Audio Visual Services, Gary Swanson. "Her initiative and analytical skills are top-notch, which I'm sure caught the eye of the folks at EY. They have made an excellent choice in hiring her."

Her Westminster education has given Ott a lead in the pursuit of a career. "The accounting program at Westminster College is something that catches the attention of potential employers," said Ott. "Professor Ligo strives to expose his students to the application of accounting concepts in the real world and this has given me a real advantage in the job market."

Ott, who will graduate in May of 2014, also noted that her employment with Audio Visual Services made her even more attactive to potential employers. "In all of my interviews, my position with AV sparked interest with potential employers in regards to my work experience," said Ott. "Working as a professional in Audio Visual Services has given me the confidence I need to perform at a high level in the real world."
