After an extensive interview process, Audio Visual Services has promoted the following individuals to the position of Operations Manager for the 2013-2014 school year.
- Erin Sullivan, an Environmental Science major from Aurora, OH, will fill the roles of Equipment Circulation Manager and Co-Operations Manager.
- Brad Steward, a Senior Computer Information Systems major from Oakdale, PA, will now be serving as Technical Support Manager and Co-Operations Manager.
Gary Swanson, Director of Audio Visual Services, said that while the selection process was rigorous, he's extremely excited about the new Operations team.
"All eight candidates were impressive," said Swanson. "It illustrates our workers' dedication to the department, the college, and their own self-improvement, making the decision a difficult one. I am confident, however, that we've got the right people in place to best position our department moving forward."
Steward and Sullivan are thrilled to take on the role of Operations Managers.
"I am immensely excited for this opportunity. I relish any chance to learn more about this department and grow professionally," said Steward.
Sullivan added, "I feel very honored to have been offered the Operations Manager position. I have been thinking about this position since my first semester joining AV in spring 2011. We have a great dynamic of different students working for AV department and I am proud to lead and assist with our staff projects. I believe the Operations Team of Brad Steward and I will be a great resource for the following year with both our new coming and returning staff members."
By definition, Operations is a top-level managerial position typically awarded to an existing AV manager with a wide array of departmental experience. Duties include meeting with the Directors to plan and coordinate all departmental activities and projects, overseeing daily operations of the department, ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for many functions, and contributing to the short and long-term organizational planning and goals. This includes guiding the staff in departmental and personal development, and helping them effectively serve the campus academic and presentation technology needs.
"You might call them our team captains," Swanson grinned. "They each bring a great energy and attitude, and I look forward to their guidance and excellent leadership as we take on new challenges in the months ahead."
