Kelly Matune, senior public relations major and AV PR and Operations manager, has accepted a job as Account Coordinator with TrueSense Marketing in Freedom, Pa. She will be working in a team of three people that will manage the marketing and donor relations for a branch of a non-profit. TrueSense Marketing is a direct response marketing and fundraising agency that does work specifically for non-profit organizations. Ronald McDonald House and The Salvation Army are just some of the non-profits that for which she could end up coordinating marketing and public relations efforts.
Matune feels well prepared for this step into what many like to call the real world.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to combine my experience in PR with my interest in the non-profit sector. I couldn't be more thankful to those that have made my education and my experiences possible. The experiential learning I have had at Westminster College, particularly in my Public Relations classes, has made me feel well-prepared for the workforce. Also, being a part of the Bright Futures Camp through the Drinko Center gave me an insight on how much work goes into making non-profits work, such as grant writing, planning, and community outreach," Matune offered
She also noted that her time with Audio Visual Services added to her professional skillset. "It's rare that a college graduate enters the job market with three years of experience in their field. This can be a scary and transitional part of life, but knowing that I have the skill set that I do, as well as the support system of the AV family motivates me to pay forward the opportunities that have been provided for me."
"We're always sad to see our seniors depart, but our loss is a huge gain for TrueSense," said AV Director Gary Swanson. "Kelly is a marvelously gifted, expertly seasoned professional with unlimited potential. Her daily presence here will no doubt be missed, but we're thrilled for her as this new chapter unfolds."
