AV Director Assists with Local School's Career Training Effort

Saturday, February 23, 2013

Director of Westminster College Audio Visual Services, Gary Swanson, participated recently in the Hermitage School District's "Career Week" for the third year in a row. Swanson helped prepare western Pennsylvania high school's seniors for their futures by performing mock interviews and providing feedback.

Students were given an opportunity to practice their interviewing skills. They presented themselves and their materials, were asked a series of questions, and were given critical review of how they presented and performed throughout the session.

"I enjoy meeting with so many dynamic young adults and helping them learn to better market themselves," Swanson shared.  "One slight misstep can cost you dearly, so implementing good interview skills is crucial to making the right impression and getting the job. It's something we regularly emphasize at Westminster."

Westminster College's Audio Visual department provides an engaging environment for personal growth, providing students the opportunity to earn money while enhancing critical marketing skills and providing professional services to the academic community, bettering students' college experience and fortifying them for future endeavors.

Swanson, an ‘88 graduate of Westminster, joined the college in 1990.  Contact AV Services at (724) 946-7188 or email avstaff@westminster.edu for additional information.
