Shawn Reynolds is the professor of Oboe at Westminster College. He also serves as the oboist/English hornist in the Westminster Faculty Wind Quintet and also coaches chamber ensembles.
Shawn received a BM in Music Education from Youngstown State University (YSU) where he studied conducting with Dr. Stephen L. Gage and Oboe with Dr. Tedrow L. Perkins. Additionally he received a MM in Oboe/English horn Performance from University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM) where he studied oboe and English horn with Dr. Mark Ostoich. He was also a Graduate Assistant in the music education department, where he was the isntructor of record of undergraduate woodwind pedagogy and techniques. He has participated in master classes on Oboe and English horn with renowned artists including Dr. Martin Shurring, Bert Lucarelli, John DeLancie, and Chris Philpotts to name a few.
Additionally, Shawn teaches grades 6, 7, and 8 middle school bands in the Howland Local Schools in Warren, OH and is also one of the assistant high school band directors for the Howland High School Tiger Marching, Concert, and Symphonic Bands.
Shawn has presented at several state, regional, and International conferences. He has presented at the International Double Reed Society Conference (IDRS) in Ithaca, NY as well as the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) all-state conferences in Columbus and Cincinnati. Additionally, he has presented at Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA) district and regional conferences.
He is the principal oboist with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra (PA) and plays often with the W.D. Packard Band of Warren, OH. He has served as adjunct oboe faculty at Youngstown State University (YSU). He is in demand in the North East Ohio and Western Pennsylvania regions as an oboist and English hornist.
Previously Shawn has served as the principal and 2nd oboist/English hornist with the Warren Philharmonic (OH), 2nd oboist with the SORG Opera Company and has also played with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, and was English horn soloist on Copeland's "Quiet City" during the 2007 season of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. Shawn was also a member of the substitute list for the renowned New World Symphony of Florida. He can be heard on recordings with the Youngstown State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Faculty Winds under the direction of Dr. Stephen L. Gage on the Naxos Label.
