About Me

My name is Babs Quincy and I have enjoyed being the Counselor at Westminster College since 1998. I completed my undergraduate work in Psychology and Elementary Education at Gordon College, Wenham, MA, and earned my Master's Degree in Counselor Education from Westminster is 1985. I have done post-graduate work in Bowen Family Systems Theory and still rely heavily on a systems approach with my student clients. I weave Cognitive-Behavioral, Mindfulness Based, Existential and Feminist appraoches into my work as well. Prior to Westminster, I was employed at Human Services Center in New Castle for thirteen years with my clinical work involving adults, children and families. I also began two state initiated programs, Children's Intensive Casemanagement and Family Based Mental Heath Services. I served as the Mental Health Consultant for Lawrence County Head Start and in Private Practice.

I have also taught in the Counselor Education porgram here at Westminster since 1998. I find my work with graduate students to be so rewarding and a lot of fun!

I have two adult children, Matthew Nickerson and Christy Nickersen-Little, both graduates of Westmnster with degrees in English. Matty is employed at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh) as a Network Administrator. Christy is a Master Teacher and Reading Specialist for Agora Cyber School, lives on a farm in Volant with her husband Brody and their son (my grandson!!) Oliver Quincy Little!

I live in Hermitage PA with my husband Tom Amundsen, the Mercer Counsty Controller. Tom and I love the outdoors, are avid gardeners and are active in several non-profits our comminity. We have four cats, all rescued but now safe with us!
