I have been a faculty member of the Education Department since 2002. Prior to my time here at Westminster I have taught all grades from grade 1 through graduate school. While in Denver, Colorado I taught reading methods courses for the University of Colorado. I have also served as the Executive Assistant to the President of the Community College of Allegheny County and the Curriculum and Instruction Supervisor for Middle and High Schools for the Denver Public Schools.
I have a doctorate in reading and I love anything that has to do with reading or the teaching of reading. I am the Reading Coordinator in the Graduate Program at Westminster College. I teach Language Arts and Reading Methods courses to both graduates and undergraduates.
My research interests are content area reading and reading with Kindles for struggling and at-risk readers.
I am the advisor for First Book - Westminster. I am proud to report that this organization has raised over 7000 dollars and more than 3000 books for students in need in Lawrence and Mercer counties. First Book-Westminster is proud to report that we have included many college employees, students and community organizations in our work to provide free, new books to underpriviliged children.
I enjoy my work here at Westminster. I am honored to serve as a faculty member.
