About Me

I am a social psychologist with expertise in small group processes.  I joined Westminster's Department of Psychology in 2003.  With growing interests in assessment of student learning outcomes and higher education administration, I was appointed the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in 2014.  In this role, I organize assessment and accreditation activities; facilitate study abroad; support grant writing; and liaison with the College's foundation partners.  Related to my external-facing responsibilities for the College, I recently was appointed to the role of Assistant to the President for College Relations.

My first love remains teaching, however, and I enjoy any opportunity I have to work with students in the classroom and lab.  Students are Westminster's best assets, and I consider myself fortunate to be a part of their personal and professional development.  It is this love of teaching that has driven my work with the Society for the Teaching of Psychology within the American Psychological Association (APA).  As division program chair, I coordinate the Society's program at the annual APA convention.  Relatedly, I am one of hundreds of psychologists who gather each summer to grade Advanced Placement exams in psychology.  Nothing improves my teaching more than do these two opportunities, and the professional networks I have developed with these psychologists who care about teaching as much as I do. Our passion for "students first" drives us to teach and measure learning in better and better ways.
