Carllos D. Lassiter is Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. In his role as Vice President and Dean, Mr. Lassiter provides overall leadership and direction to comprehensive areas in Student Affairs including Residence Life and Leadership Development, Student Activities and Programs, Diversity and Inclusion, Disability Services, Counseling Services, Student Health Center, and Public Safety. In addition, he provides direction and support for Greek Life and Student Conduct. He serves as a member of the President’s Leadership Team and as the College’s Title IX Coordinator.
Before joining Westminster College, he served as Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Rust College in Holly Springs, MS. Throughout his fifteen years of experience in student affairs, Mr. Lassiter has worked at variety of institutions, including The University of Chicago, Vanderbilt University, and Tulane University.
Mr. Lassiter is currently completing his dissertation to receive a Doctorate in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi to be awarded in May 2018. His scholarly research focuses on the impact of public policy coupled with institutional responsibility on healthcare accessibility and affordability for college students. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Africana Studies from Vassar College and a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Mississippi.
Mr. Lassiter completed the Executive Leadership Academy sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) that prepares current vice presidents to serve as effective future college presidents. He is an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), Association of College and University Housing Officers—International (ACUHO-I), International Center for Student Success and Institutional Accountability, Association for Student Conduct Administration and the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges.
Mr. Lassiter’s professional philosophy is to ensure a quality and rewarding student life experience for campus communities.
