About Me


Perry (P.J.) Gatch has been teaching in the Pittsburgh area since 1990 and is one of the most sought after instructors of percussion.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Master of Music in Percussion Performance at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.  P.J.  is the Director of Percussion Studies and adjunct music education faculty member at Westminster College.  P.J. has presented numerous clinics and master-classes throughout the country and since the fall of 2010 has written percussion education and performance articles for the PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators Association) Journal, published quarterly.

He maintains a busy playing and recording schedule throughout the year.  Some of his engagements include the Pittsburgh Musical Theater, The Pittsburgh Public Theater, Pittsburgh Opera, River City Brass Band, City Theater, and the Westminster College Faculty Jazz Quartet.  P.J. has been a member of the Tempus Fugit Percussion Ensemble since 1992, which has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Russia.  Tempus Fugit has collaborated with some of the finest names in percussion including Stanley Leonard, Steve Houghton, Michael Burritt, Nay Rosauro, and Leigh Howard Stevens.
