NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Erin Smith, director of library services at Westminster College's McGill Library, was elected vice-chair/chair-elect of the College Libraries Section (CLS) of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL).
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -Trails are made for walking. A dozen representatives of the North Country Trail Association (NCTA) proved this on Wednesday, August 14. Their trek at the Field Station was just one of the field excursions linked with the annual meetings held this year at Slippery Rock University. Hikers hailed from Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Pennsylvania. They came, they saw, they hiked!

The following are the move-in dates and times for the 2013 Fall Semester:
- Residence Halls and Commuter Check In Open for New Students: Aug. 23; 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
- Berlin Village: Aug. 24; move-in begins at 8:30 a.m. (Keys available at the information desk)
- Residence Halls: Aug. 25; Residence Halls open at noon for upperclassmen
- Residence Halls: Aug. 26; Residence Halls open all day for upperclassmen

OFFICE OF FAITH AND SPIRITUALITY OPENING CHAPEL SERVICE

Professional headshots for faculty will be taken Thursday, Aug. 22 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. outside Witherspoon in McKelvey Campus Center. To reserve a specific time email Alyssa Ludwiczak. Walk-ups welcomed as well. These photos will be used for press releases and other communications.
The Westminster College Opening Convocation is Friday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. President Dorman, Dean Wood, the Student Government Association president, and members of the faculty and administration will extend greetings to the matriculating Class of 2017. Families are encouraged to join with the entire college community. All first-year students will sit as a class in the first few rows on the left and right sections near the stage. CHECK OUT WESTMINSTER STAFF'S YARN BOMBING AT THE ANDY WARHOL BRIDGE IN PITTSBURGH
The following Westminster Colllege staff members and friends participated in "yarn bombing" the Andy Warhol Bridge in Pittsburgh: Barb Carr, Suzy Carter Barner, Connie Davis, Dee Drabick, June Pierce and Sharon Kelly.
The installation will be on view until September 6. The blankets will then be washed and distributed to homeless shelters, nursing homes and animal shelters.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Avocado and Black Bean Salsa
- 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup frozen whole-kernal corn, thawed, or fresh corn kernels (1 ear)
- 1 (14.4-ounce) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes, with juice
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup packed fresh cilantro, chopped
- 3 tablespoons avocado oil or light olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon minced canned chipotles in adobo sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 avocados, diced
- Tortilla Chips
- Combine first 10 ingredients, stirring until well blended.
- Fold in avocado, and serve with tortilla chips.
