Service and Support Award: Call for Nominations

Audio Visual Services is accepting nominations for the Service and Support Award, presented annually during AV Week, which is Oct. 12 - 19. Any Westminster College alumnus can be nominated for this prestigious award, which has been honoring Westminster's hardworking alumni for seven years.  To nominate a qualified individual for this honor, please use our nomination form. Chili Cook-Off to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis at Westminster Homecoming

Building off of last year's successful event, Audio Visual Services and the Audio Visual Alumni Council (AVAC) are holding the 2nd annual Chili Cook-Off and Tailgate by the Field House during the Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Any group or individual on campus may submit an entry to the Chili Cook-off, including alumni. If you are interested in participating and supporting Cystic Fibrosis research, fill out the form here. The entry fee is $5 per submission and entrants are expected to supply at minimum six quarts of chili and their own crock pot. A maximum of 20 entries are being accepted for this year's event. Tastings will begin after the parade, around 11:30 a.m. at the AV tent near the football field.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Sweet Potato Bread
from allrecipes.com

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3 cup water
1 cup cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:

1. Combine sugar and oil; beat well. Add eggs and beat. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir flour mixture into egg mixture alternately with water. Stir in sweet potatoes and chopped nuts.
2. Pour batter into greased 9x5 inch loaf pan (or 2 small loaf pans). Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about one hour.
