Westminster College's Department of Education will host children's book author Rebecca Macri Thursday, March 22, at 7 p.m. in McKelvey Campus Center's Lakeview Room. The program is free and open to the public.
Macri's book Pip: A Very Special Little Caterpillar, a Pinnacle Achievement Award winner in children's inspirational books, tells the story of the smallest of six caterpillars as he struggles with physical challenges and learns some of life's greatest lessons from his family.
The title character is based on Macri's brother-in-law, Phillip Macri, a Westminster graduate and New Castle native who suffered a near-fatal swimming accident as a high school junior and was left paralyzed from the neck down.
Macri will also share her latest book, Mosaic Me, that follows Lindy Lou as she tries to solve the mystery of why she looks different with her red hair, freckles, dimple, and crooked pinky finger.
Contact Dr. Amy Camardese, professor and chair of Westminster's Department of Education, at (724) 946-7183 or email for additional information.
