Men's Basketball: Westminster 2008-09 Season Review
Thursday, March 26, 2009
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - For a seventh straight year, the Westminster College men's basketball team hosted a conference tournament game by finishing in the upper echelon of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). Early in the 2008-09 season it seemed unlikely that the Titans would continue that streak, but the resilient Westminster team placed third in the PAC with a 7-5 record in league games and compiled an overall record of 10-17. Westminster started the season 0-9, its worst start in team history, and at one point the Titans were 1-11 with their only win coming at home against Thomas More, the eventual PAC Champions. But Westminster didn't give up under sixth-year head coach Larry Ondako. The Titans enjoyed stretches of winning five out of seven games and four out of six on separate occasions and posted a 9-6 record in their last 15 games. more |
