Titan Men's Cross Country

Tim McNeil

Head Coach

Tim McNeil enters his eighth year as the head coach for the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs at Westminster College for the 2014-15 season.

McNeil immediately put his thumbprint on the programs as the Titan women’s track and field team won the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) championship in each of his first three years after winning its first-ever PAC title in McNeil’s first year in 2008. The men’s track and field team, which finished last in the PAC in McNeil’s first year, won its first-ever PAC title in 2011. In 2012, for the first time in school history, the Titan men's and women's track and field teams won the PAC championship in the same year.

McNeil was named PAC Women’s Track & Field Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2010 and PAC Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012.

Other unprecedented success achieved by the Titans under McNeil included the women’s track and field team sending athletes to the NCAA Division III Championship meet in 2008 for the first time, the men’s and women’s track and field team producing NCAA All-Americans for the first time in 2012, 2011 and 2008, respectively, and the women’s cross country team placing second in the PAC and 17th at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, each marking the team’s highest-ever finish.

Overall during McNeil’s tenure, Westminster track and field athletes have claimed 44 PAC event titles (32 women’s, 12 men’s).

McNeil became the school’s first full-time employee exclusively dedicated to coaching both the Titan track and field and cross country programs when he was hired in July 2007.

A native of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, McNeil is a 1996 graduate of Westminster having excelled for the Titans in track and field and football. In track, McNeil was a three-time qualifier for the NAIA national championships in the 400-meter hurdles from 1994-96. His school record of 53.8 in the 400 hurdles still stands. On the grid-iron, McNeil was the most valuable player in the 1994 NAIA national championship game. McNeil ranks second on the school’s career receptions list (129) and fifth in the receiving yards (1,849) in four seasons from 1992-95.

McNeil previously coached track and field at John F. Kennedy High School in Warren, Ohio, from 2000-06 where he was the school’s assistant principal from 2004-06.

A 2005 inductee to the Westminster Titan Sports Hall of Fame, McNeil completed his master’s degree in education from his alma mater in 2004.

McNeil and his wife Jennifer reside in Niles, Ohio, with their daughter, Zoey, and son, Micah.
