Baseball: Titans Swept in Season Opener

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Westminster College baseball team was swept by Kenyon College in a non-conference doubleheader in the Titans' 2015 season opener in day one of their Florida trip on Sunday. The Titans lost 4-2 in game one and lost 7-0 in a no-hitter in game two. Kenyon improved to 7-2, while Westminster went to 0-2.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College will induct six new members into the Titan Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 20. The Class of 2014 is as follows: Dudley Giles ‘84, Baseball; Jacob Gleason ‘02, Cross Country, Track & Field; Jim James Jr. ‘79, Meritorious Service/Football (posthumously); Eric Mojock ‘02, Swimming & Diving; Suzanne Fitz Ortiz ‘03, Volleyball; Dave Schrecengost ‘64, Baseball, Men's Basketball.

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. -The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) hosted its inaugural Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet earlier this week. Senior volleyball player Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) and senior baseball player Nicholas Reinthaler (Canfield, OH / Canfield) were honored as the Westminster recipients.

GREENVILLE, Pa.  - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2014 All-PAC Baseball teams, as voted on by each of the league's nine head coaches, on Tuesday. Three Titans were selected, led by junior outfielder John Jones (New Wilmington, PA / Ligonier Valley) who was named first team All-PAC. Junior catcher Jake Haubrich (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) and senior pitcher Scott Hanicak (Ellwood City, Pa. / Laurel) were named honorable mention All-PAC. This marked the first All-PAC honor for all three student-athletes.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Department of Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the 11th Annual WESPY Awards (Westminster Exceptional Sports Performances of the Year) Tuesday night at Orr Auditorium. The WESPYs honored team MVPs for all 18 varsity sports teams, as well as several annual awards and recognition of top athletic achievements throughout the 2013-14 academic year.

BETHANY, W. Va. - The Westminster College baseball team lost, 9-5, in a nine-inning game at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany on Thursday. The Titans were unable to recover from an 8-0 Bethany lead after the Bison scored eight runs with two outs in the bottom of the third inning.
