Tuesday, February 18, 2014

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2013-14 All-PAC Women's and Men's Swimming and Diving teams. A total of 25 Titans were recognized for their efforts at this year's PAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

The Titan men had 11 all-conference selections, while the Titan women had 14. Both were second-most in the conference.

For the men's team, Westminster junior Steven Brooks (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) was tabbed the PAC's Swimmer of the Year. Brooks, also named the league's Swimmer of the Year in 2013, finished first in the finals of Saturday's 200 backstroke for the second-straight year after registering a winning time of 1:49.72, establishing new PAC and Longnecker Invitational records while also attaining the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard. On Thursday, Brooks claimed the 50 freestyle (21.24) before winning the PAC title in the 100 backstroke with a B-cut time of 50.18. He also swam successful legs on the Titans' winning 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays and was a member of the Titans' winning 400 freestyle relay to cap off the evening Saturday.

The Titan men had seven First Team All-PAC honorees, including sophomore Matt Baurle (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford), junior Steven Brooks (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman), freshman Max Hague (Canton, Ohio/Glenoak), freshman Dan Pletz (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.), junior Jake Pletz (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.), junior Nicholas Smith (Indiana, Pa./Indiana), and freshman Joey Spurio (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard).

The Titan women had two First Team All-PAC honorees, including seniors Erin Erdley (Meadville, Pa./Cochranton) and Amanda Marlow (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg).

The Titan men, last year's PAC champion, finished in second place with 718 points, while the Titan women finished in second with 794 points.
