Men's Basketball: Titans Drop to Bethany at Home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 74-58, to Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action at home on Wednesday.

Down 13-4 with 16:27 to go in the first half, Westminster (3-18, 2-10 PAC) went on an 8-0 run to cut Bethany's (17-4, 10-2 PAC) lead to 13-12 with 12:01 on the clock. The run was capped off with a three-pointer from freshman Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham). The Bison remained in front and had their first double-digit lead of 35-25 with 1:57 remaining. Bethany led 40-27 at intermission.

The Bison led 53-36, their largest lead of the game, with 12:28 left in the game, however Westminster orchestrated a 10-1 run to slice Bethany's lead to 54-46 with 8:47 on the clock.  The Titans got within eight points once more later in the half, but that would be the closest they would get.

For the game, Bethany out-shot Westminster 38.6% (22-57) to 33.9% (19-56) and held a 41-37 rebound edge.  
 
Three Titans scored in double-figures led by freshman Matt Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) with 14 points. Sophomore Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and Pozsgai added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Westminster sophomore Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) gathered in a team-high seven rebounds, while earning team-highs of three assists and three steals.

Delonte' Joyce led Bethany with a game-high 21 points, while teammate Leslie Addy had a game-high eight rebounds.

Westminster will take the weekend off and will compete at Thomas More next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
