Women's Basketball: Titans Top Tomcats in PAC Action

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team won, 74-49, against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thiel at home on Wednesday.

Westminster (10-8, 7-4 PAC) took an early 11-2 lead in the first half after a jumper from senior Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mt. Alvernia) with 15:08 on the clock. Thiel (4-14, 3-10 PAC) responded with a 10-0 run and took its first lead, 12-11, after a three-pointer with 12:59 to play. Tied 18-18 midway through the first half, Westminster pulled away with an 11-1 run and took a 29-19 lead with 6:23 on the clock. Thiel battled back, however a layup at the buzzer from Holko gave the Titans momentum and a 34-29 lead at halftime.

The Titans maintained their lead and out-scored the Tomcats, 40-20, in the second half, while shooting 48.0% (12-25) from the field.
For the game, Westminster out-shot Thiel 41.4% (24-58) to 32.1% (18-56) and held a 42-36 rebound edge.
   
Four Titans scored in double-digits, led by Holko with a game-high 19 points (6-for-12). Classmate Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) followed with 14 points, while freshman Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lovellville) and junior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) tallied 10 points each. Junior Courtney Klein (York, PA / Red Lion) grabbed down a game-high eight rebounds, while senior Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) added six boards.

Jaclyn Watkins led Thiel with 16 points, while teammate Hannah Stoneman had a team-high six rebounds.

Westminster will travel at Saint Vincent on Saturday with a starting time of 4 p.m.
