Women's Basketball: Titans Top Pitt-Greensburg, 71-44

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak as it won, 71-44, on the road at Pitt-Greensburg (4-5) on Saturday.

Westminster (3-6), in front 26-20 with 2:50 to go in the first half, finished the half with a 10-0 run to take its largest lead of the frame of 36-20 at intermission.

The Titans picked up where they left in the second half and took their largest lead of the game, 65-33, after junior Courtney Klein (York, PA / Red Lion) registered a traditional three-point play with 5:43 on the clock.

For the game, the Titans out-shot the Bobcats 36.9 % (24-65) to 18.8 % (13-69).  

The Titans dominated inside as they out-scored the Bobcats 34-12 in the paint. Westminster's bench out-scored Pitt-Greenburg's 34-16, paced by junior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) and freshman Shelby Brown (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Borts's 14 points marked a career-high. Titan senior Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) tied Borts with a game-high 14 points. Klein led on the glass with a game- and career-high 15 rebounds, followed by senior Hannah Shaffer (Apollo, PA / Apollo-Ridge) with 12 boards. Klein added a team- and career-high four blocks.

Westminster will travel to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Chatham on Saturday, Jan. 4. The game is slated to start at 2 p.m.
