Volleyball: Titans Win Two PAC Matches in Shutout Fashion

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team won two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches Wednesday night at the Chatham Tri-Match as it shutout Waynesburg in game one and blanked Chatham in the nightcap with a score of 3-0 in each. The Titans improved to 10-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

In game one against the Yellow Jackets, the Titans won 25-10, 25-20, and 25-20 and won game two versus the Cougars with the scores of 25-6, 25-15, and 25-16.

Five Titans had double-digit kills combined for the night led by seniors Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) and Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH / Southeast) and sophomore Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) who led the Titan offense with 15 kills each. Senior Lexi Starheim (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard), who had a team-best .571 hitting percentage, and junior Julie Powell (Meadville, PA / Meadville) added 13 and 12 kills, respectively.

Westminster senior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) dished-out a team-high 47 assists in game one, while sophomore Tiffany Jackson (Las Vegas, NV / Las Vegas) had a team-high 16 assists in the nightcap.

Powell led the defense with a combined 27 digs, while senior Claire Ferrando (North Jackson, OH / Western Reserve) followed with 21. Also registering double-digit digs were senior Chrissy Volsko (Canfield, OH / Austintown Fitch) and Prybyl with 15 and 14, respectively.

The Titans will next compete at the Allegheny Tri-Match on Saturday. Westminster will play Ohio Wesleyan at 1 p.m. and Allegheny at 3 p.m.
