Women's Tennis: Westminster Tied for Second in 2013 Preseason PAC Coaches' Poll

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's tennis team tied with Grove City with 88 points to finish second in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), according to the league's annual preseason coaches' poll. Westminster garnered three first-place votes.

Westminster's seniors Caitie Hosler (Sr., Lititz, Pa./Manheim Central) and Heather Santa (Sr., Butler, Pa./ Butler) represented the Titans on the Players to Watch list.

Saint Vincent was picked to finish first with 92 points and five first-place votes, narrowly edging Grove City and the Titans. The Wolverines claimed the final two first-place votes.

Waynesburg was picked to finish fourth with 67 points, followed by Geneva in fifth with 58 points. Washington & Jefferson took sixth (56) and Thomas More seventh (36), with Bethany (24), Chatham (23) and Thiel (18) rounding out the preseason poll.

Westminster and Saint Vincent were crowned co-champions at last season's PAC Women's Tennis Championships with each team totaling 49 points. Despite the tie at the top of the championship standings, Saint Vincent earned the PAC's automatic qualifying bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship because of its 6-3 head-to-head match victory over Westminster on October 12.

The Titans open their season on August 31 when they travel to Chatham at 10:00 a.m.
